Detectives are investigating local allegations of sexual misconduct against Donelson Middle School teacher Ronald Boykin, who, during a traffic stop in Nashville Sunday night, was found to have a sex crimes indictment from 2006 pending against him in Chattanooga.
Boykin, 40, of 270 Tampa Drive, was stopped after he disobeyed signage prohibiting motorists from traveling onto I-24 West from the 2nd Avenue on-ramp. Officer Carey Adkerson found that Boykin’s license was suspended and ran a detailed history check, which showed that Boykin was wanted in Chattanooga on two counts of rape, one count of sexual battery by an authority figure and one count of attempted sexual battery by an authority figure. Boykin has since been returned to Hamilton County.
Boykin has been employed by the Metro School System for two years and most recently taught the “Making a Change” program at Donelson Middle. Metro Sex Crimes detectives this week have been interviewing students who were befriended by Boykin and have identified at least two boys who said that he inappropriately touched them at his home. The investigation by Metro Police and the Department of Children’s Services is continuing.
Parents whose children have had contact with Boykin at Donelson Middle or any setting outside of school are urged to ask them about any inappropriate behavior on Boykin’s part. Those with concerns should contact the police department’s Sex Crimes Unit at 862-7540.
