FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 21, 2009

North Precinct detectives believe 33-year-old ex-convict David Lee Cox is the armed robber who used a red mountain bike to make his getaway after holding up the Mapco store at 611 51st Avenue North Sunday night. An arrest warrant has been issued charging Cox with aggravated robbery.

Surveillance video from the market, broadcast last night on Nashville television stations, prompted an almost immediate telephone tip to the North Precinct. A comparison of Cox’s prior mugshots to the images on the surveillance video appears to show the same person.

Cox was convicted of aggravated robbery in 1998 and received a sentence of 14-years.

Anyone seeing David Lee Cox or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact North Precinct Investigations at 862-7901.
