FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 14, 2008

In observance of National Police Week, the Andrew Jackson Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police today will sponsor its annual memorial service in tribute to Nashville’s officers who have died in the line of duty.

The service will honor the 43 law enforcement professionals who have died in service to Nashvillians since 1875. Officer Christy Dedman was the last Metro officer killed in the line of duty. She died on July 19, 2004 after being struck by a tractor-trailer while assisting a stranded motorist on I-40.

*Media representatives are requested to have their equipment in place in the sanctuary or balcony at Saint Mary’s by 11:45 a.m.
