East Precinct detectives continue in their efforts to identify the person or persons responsible for Saturday evening’s murder of 26-year-old Antoni Rico Morton outside of his apartment at 1500 Porter Road.
Morton, who shared the apartment with his girlfriend, left just after 5 p.m. According to his girlfriend, she heard a gunshot and opened the apartment door. She saw Morton fighting with the gunman, shut the door, and called 9-1-1. Morton was transported to Skyline Hospital where he died from gunshot wounds. Robbery is considered a possible motive, although other motives have not been ruled out.
The gunman is described as a black man with a cut and swelling on the left side of his forehead. He may have been struck in the head by Morton during their struggle. The suspect is approximately 5’7” tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He fled in a black 2-door car, possibly a Dodge, driven by a second man described as a light-skinned black man.
Anyone who potentially knows the identity of the gunman and/or the driver of the getaway car is urged to contact East Precinct Investigations at 862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
