
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 46 arrests involving 45 misdemeanors, and four outstanding warrants. Seized were 11.4 grams of marijuana.
At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of six SID detectives and nine patrol officers. Areas targeted were the Cheatham Place public housing development, the Germantown area, Jefferson Street, the James Cayce public housing development, Main Street, Buchanan Street, Dr. D.B. Todd Boulevard, Clarksville Pike, Metrocenter Boulevard, Nolensville Pike, Harding Place, and Haywood Lane.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of four SID detectives and four patrol officers. Areas targeted were Madison Park, Gallatin Pike at Old Hickory Boulevard, the James Cayce public housing development, McFerrin Avenue, the J.C. Napier public housing development, and University Court.
Sunday’s enforcement consisted of nine SID detectives and five patrol officers. Areas targeted were the Edgehill public housing development, Nolensville Pike, and Harding Place at Tampa Drive.
