Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 61 arrests involving 12 felonies, 65 misdemeanors, and 14 outstanding warrants. Seized were 14.6 grams of marijuana, 5.1 grams of cocaine, and 59 various pills.

At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.

Friday’s enforcement consisted of eleven SID detectives, four patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the J.C. Napier public housing development, University Court, Murfreesboro Pike, Harding Place, Linbar Drive, Bell Road, and Creighton Avenue.

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of eleven SID detectives, three patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were Madison Park, Gallatin Pike at Old Hickory Boulevard, the James Cayce public housing development, McFerrin Avenue, Dickerson Pike, and Cleveland Street.

Sunday’s enforcement consisted of nine SID detectives and four patrol officers. Areas targeted were Brick Church Pike at Ewing Lane, Harding Place at Tampa Drive, and Nolensville Pike.
