
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 61 arrests involving eight felonies, 63 misdemeanors, and eight outstanding warrants. Seized were 24.5 grams of marijuana and 7.3 grams of cocaine.
At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of five SID detectives, four patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the J.C. Napier public housing development, University Court, and Harding Place.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of eight SID detectives, three patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were Harding Place, Haywood Lane, Nolensville Pike, Murfreesboro Pike, Trinity Lane, Brick Church Pike, Dickerson Pike, the James Cayce public housing development, and Main Street.
Sunday’s enforcement consisted of ten SID detectives and four patrol officers. Areas targeted were the J.C. Napier public housing development, University Court, Trimble Bottoms, I-24 at Harding Place, and Nolensville Pike.
