Hermitage Precinct detectives are asking for the community’s assistance in locating Marcus Donovan Bender, who is being sought for questioning in connection with the January 30th fatal shootings of Brandon Bennett and Lornes Freeman at 198 Bonnafield Drive in Hermitage.
Bender, 23, who is last known to have lived on Margaret Robinson Drive, is also named in unrelated outstanding arrest warrants charging order of protection violations, trespassing and vandalism. Bender is not believed to have fired any shots on January 30th, but may have information regarding the circumstances leading up to the gunfire.
The investigation to this point shows that Bennett had cocaine and marijuana inside the residence and dealt drugs from there. A man later identified as Freeman rushed into the home just after 12:30 a.m., encountered Bennett, and shot him. Christopher Fendley, who was visiting Bennett at the time, then fired on Freeman, telling detectives he did so in self-defense. No charges have been placed against Fendley at present.
Anyone seeing Marcus Donovan Bender or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact Hermitage Precinct Detective Johnny Crumby at 862-7727 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
