FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 12, 2007

East Precinct detectives are asking for the community’s assistance in locating two men who are deemed persons of interest in the October 11, 2005 murder of Michael S. Bracey on Dew Street.

Theopolis Caruthers, 26, and David Arthur Lee, 25, are strongly believed by investigators to have at least been present when Bracey was killed. Efforts to locate them over the past several weeks have been unsuccessful. Detectives believe the two are purposely avoiding contact with police.

On Tuesday, October 11, 2005, Bracey, 23, went to the 1100 block of Dew Street to buy a rifle. He met two men and discussed a price for the weapon. Bracey took the rifle without paying for it and fled on foot. The men chased Bracey a short distance and opened fire, fatally wounding him.

Anyone seeing Caruthers and/or Lee, or knowing their whereabouts, is urged to contact Detective Matt Filter at 862-7602 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. A tip to Crime Stoppers could result in a cash reward to the caller of up to $1,000.
