FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 28, 2007

Detectives investigating last week’s rape of a 22-year-old woman in Bicentennial Mall now have a composite sketch of the suspect.

The victim assisted in the development of the sketch, which depicts a black man in his 40s to early 50s who is likely homeless. He is approximately six feet tall, has a thin build, short hair, and a goatee. He also has a scar under his right eye.

The victim was attacked at 2:30 a.m. on September 18 as she was walked home from a downtown club. She was approached from behind while in the amphitheatre area of Bicentennial Mall, thrown to the ground, and raped a knifepoint. She resisted, but the suspect repeatedly punched and kicked her in the head and body. The victim was able to walk to a nearby building, from where police were called.

Anyone knowing or recognizing the suspect from the composite sketch is urged to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
