September 21, 2007

Metro Police and the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man believed responsible for at least five bank robberies in Tennessee and Kentucky since July, including one today in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Agents believe the same man is responsible for bank robberies in Nashville on August 24, Clarksville on July 25 and September 14, and Manchester on August 10.

On August 24, the robber entered SunTrust Bank’s 7185 Whites Creek Pike branch in Joelton around 2 p.m. He approached the teller, passed a robbery demand note, and implied that he had a weapon. The suspect was given cash and he fled on foot.

The robber is described as a white man, 5’11” tall, with a dark mustache and short beard. In his most recent robbery he was wearing a high school T-shirt with Gordonsville Tigers written on the front.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-Crime or Detective Keith Sutherland with the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force at 232-7500.
