
A man being sought for questioning in connection with two homicides today in Franklin, Tennessee, is suspected of robbing one South Nashville business and attempting to rob two others.
James Ellis Farris, 56, is presently named in an outstanding arrest warrant charging attempted aggravated robbery for pulling a gun and trying to hold-up a clerk at Mapco’s 5001 Linbar Drive store at 10:40 a.m. Farris is also suspected of being the man who attempted to rob Big Lots at 4880 Nolensville Pike at 1:35 p.m. He has been positively identified as the gunman who succeeded in robbing the Subway restaurant at 5765 Nolensville Pike at 2:05 p.m.
Farris has relatives who live on Nashville’s Rosedale Avenue. Detectives have been there and were told by the relatives that Farris has not contacted them in months. He also has ties to Williamson and Bedford Counties.
James Ellis Farris is considered armed and dangerous. He is 5’9” tall, weighs 150 pounds, has reddish brown short hair, and was last seen wearing a green shirt and blue jeans. He is believed to be driving a 2008 gray Ford Mustang bearing Tennessee dealer tag D-00595. The car has a Mark Pirtle insignia on the rear. Farris was allowed to take the car for a test drive from the Shelbyville dealership yesterday and didn’t return it.
Anyone seeing Farris or knowing his whereabouts is urged to immediately contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600.
