Emergency Communications Center Director RoxAnn Brown today submitted her letter of resignation, effective July 9, 2007.
In the letter, Brown commended her staff for implementing important changes during her tenure, which led to the accreditation of Nashville’s Communications Center by:
Chief Ronal Serpas, the present chairman of the Emergency Communications
Center Board, thanked Brown for her service and echoed the praise of the professional men and women who work at the ECC.
“This city is fortunate to have extremely dedicated ECC employees who handle more than one million citizen calls for assistance every year,” Serpas said.
Metro Fire Chief Steve Halford, an ECC board member, said he was grateful for Brown’s service over the past five years.
“Ms. Brown is a dedicated professional, and I wish her the best in future endeavors,” Halford said.
Terry Griffith, Ed.D., will assume the role as interim ECC Director effective July 9. Griffith earned her doctorate in Human Resource Development from Vanderbilt in 2002, and was employed by the Metropolitan Government that same year. Griffith spent nine months at the ECC last year, at the request of the board, assessing the center’s management style/climate. She also created and conducted training for ECC personnel.
The ECC director reports to a board consisting of the police and fire chiefs and the director of Emergency Management.
Griffith and Brown will work together on an effective transition plan for the ECC. The Board will be conducting a thorough search for a permanent director.
