The Metro police force will grow by 16 Tuesday, June 26, as the city’s newest police officers graduate from five months of training, receive their badges and take the oath of office.
The graduation ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the Madison Church of Christ, 106 Gallatin Pike.
The 16 members of Session 53 began training on February 1. After graduation, the new officers will spend the next five to six months with precinct field training officers before patrolling the streets by themselves.
Media representatives and the public are invited to the graduation ceremony, at which both Mayor Purcell and Chief Serpas will speak.
