
The teenager killed in Monday afternoon’s three-vehicle collision on Edmondson Pike near the Ellington Agricultural Center is identified as Bimal Ismail, 17, of Ragland Drive.
Ismail was driving southbound on Edmondson Pike when she hydroplaned during a rain storm at 3 p.m. She traveled into the northbound lanes and was struck by a Toyota Avalon driven by Shami Hamawandi, 29, of Hall Court. Hamawandi’s car was then struck in the rear by a Mazda Tribute driven by Phil Broden, 44, of Brentwood.
Ismail was pronounced dead at Southern Hills Medical Center. Hamawandi was transported to Southern Hills Medical Center with non-critical injuries. Broden was not transported.
Ismail was driving on a learners permit. She had no one else in the car with her and was not wearing a seatbelt.
