The success of this years CMA Music Festival which attracted nearly 200,000 visitors to downtown Nashville is reflected in the Central Precinct’s crime statistics last Thursday through Sunday for the festival area and surrounding businesses and parking lots. During the four-day festival in this area the Central Precinct reported one vehicle break-in, one personal robbery (purse snatching), and three aggravated assaults, one of which was domestic related. There were no pedestrian-related accidents.
Central Precinct Commander Andy Garrett commended officers who also took the opportunity to encourage visitors to PARK SMART by placing flyers on vehicles that were unlocked or had valuables left in plain sight.
“Not only did we protect people from being victimized, but we also educated them on how not to become victims through the PARK SMART initiative,” Garrett said.
The police department’s continuing PARK SMART campaign strongly urges citizens to lock their automobile doors, secure any valuables and REMOVE THE KEYS.
