An attempted traffic stop in East Nashville early today resulted in the arrest of a parole violator and the recovery of a pistol.
East Precinct Officer Melissa Schultz attempted to pull over Paul D. McGill, 28, because the license plate didn’t belong on the car. He refused to stop, and a short pursuit ended when McGill crashed into a fence in front of his girlfriend’s home on Brunswick Drive. He bailed from the car and ran inside her residence. McGill was found hiding inside a closet. A handgun and drug paraphernalia were found in the closet’s drop ceiling.
McGill, a registered ex-con, was served with an outstanding parole violation warrant. Further investigation found the car McGill had been driving was stolen. He is charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon (motor vehicle), theft of property, felony evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a license. McGill is being held in lieu of $170,000 dollars bond.
