A composite sketch has now been developed of the teenager suspected of raping one woman and trying to rape another in East Nashville on April 21. A TBI artist created the sketch during a meeting with the victims.
The suspect is described as black, between the ages of 13 and 16, 5’3” tall, with short hair. Both victims described the suspect as walking with a slight limp and said that he spoke slowly.
At 2 p.m. on April 21, a 17-year-old girl reported that she was walking in the 600 block of South 6th Street when the suspect came up behind her, put a gun to her head and threw her to the ground. The victim fought her attacker, who wound up fleeing after he saw another person approaching. The 17-year-old was not sexually assaulted or seriously injured.
At 4:45 p.m., a teenager matching the suspect’s description from South 6th Street entered a garage on South 11th Street and, at gunpoint, raped a woman in her 30’s who had just arrived home.
At the time of the two incidents, the suspect was wearing a black shirt, faded blue jean shorts, and black and white Nike high-top tennis shoes with a red “Nike Swoosh.”
Anyone recognizing the suspect from the composite sketch is urged to contact the police department’s Sex Crimes Unit at 862-7540 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
