FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 10, 2007

South Precinct detectives have determined that a 16-year-old fired the shot that killed Omid Market owner Ebadolla Ghorbani during a robbery of the 106 Rains Avenue store last November 20.

A Juvenile Court arrest order charging criminal homicide, especially aggravated robbery, and unlawful gun possession has been issued for Nasser Mohammed Muhsin, who is last known to have lived at Apollo Apartments on Richards Road . Efforts today to apprehend Muhsin have been unsuccessful. Anyone seeing this dangerous teenager or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact South Precinct Investigations at 862-7680 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

The man who went into the market with Muhsin has been identified as Timothy Jamal Ward, 18, who is last known to have lived on Eulala Circle . An arrest warrant has been issued charging Ward with criminal homicide. He also remains at large this evening. Anyone knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact detectives at 862-7680 or Crime Stoppers.

Arrested at 10 a.m. today was the getaway driver, Ket Tony Voun, 29. He was taken into custody at his 4982 Edmondson Pike home. Voun confessed to his involvement and is being held without bail pending a hearing.

Ghorbani, who was working in the market with his 46-year-old wife and 26-year-old son, saw two masked suspects as they were about to enter the building and attempted to shut the door. He was unsuccessful. One suspect, alleged to have been Muhsin, held a pistol on the victims while his partner, alleged to have been Ward, took money from the cash register. As the suspects attempted to flee, the gunman ran out of the store first. Ghorbani immediately shut the door and held it closed while his son jumped the second suspect who was still inside. As the son and the second suspect fought, the gunman tried to reenter the market. He pushed the door open slightly, reached inside and began hitting Ghorbani on the head with the pistol. Ghorbani eventually relented, and the gunman reentered. Almost immediately upon coming back inside, the gunman fired one shot at Ghorbani at very close range.
