FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 2, 2007

A Nashville woman who had gone to buy drugs from two men in a parked car ended up a kidnapping victim. Fortunately, North Precinct Crime Suppression Unit Detectives were nearby and were able to diffuse a life-threatening situation.

Patrick Washington, 19, of Avendale Drive, and Joshua Hambrick, 19, of Tucker Road, were in a late-model Chevrolet Caprice parked on the side of Farmview Drive. The victim got into the back seat to purchase drugs from the men when Hambrick drove off at a high rate of speed and Washington, in the front passenger seat, aimed a gun at her head and demanded her money.

The woman threw her money on the floor of the car, and made repeated pleas for them to let her out of the car. As the Caprice approached a stop sign, a CSU Detective activated his emergency equipment. The woman managed to jump out of the backseat at this time and run to safety.

Washington and Hambrick were taken into custody without incident. The victim and a witness positively identified both men.

Hambrick and Washington are each charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Hambrick is being held in lieu of $163,000 dollars bond and Washington is being held in lieu of $153,000 dollars bond.
