East Precinct detectives are trying to locate a potential witness to last night’s murder of Vincent Bernard Thomas, 42, of Lucille Street.

A man ran into the Meridian Street Fire Station at 11:15 p.m. to tell firefighters his friend had been shot. Fire department personnel responded and found Thomas on the sidewalk near 1008 North 2nd Street with a gunshot wound.

Thomas was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The potential witness is described as a black man who appears to be in his 30’s, is approximately 5’8” tall, and has short hair.

Thomas’ wife arrived after paramedics were on the scene. She became concerned when he did not return home from work by 10 p.m. and had been looking for him.

Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to call East Precinct detectives at 862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
