
Members of the Central Precinct Crime Suppression Unit, assisted by SWAT officers assigned to the Special Response Team, today arrested a convicted felon for selling drugs while out on parole for murder.
Christopher Buckner, 28, shot and killed a man in a 1998 drug-related shooting. He served eight years of his 12 year sentence for criminally negligent homicidebefore his release in September 2006. Buckner was taken into custody at 10 a.m. without incident at his residence in the 2900 block of Jones Avenue.
A fully loaded .38-caliber handgun was seized, along with almost 9 grams of crack cocaine andmore than$1,300 cash.
Buckner is charged with unlawful possession of a handgun by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cocainefor resale. A parole violation warrant is expected to be filed by the state.
Information developed by Central Precinct Detective Steve Ray is credited with getting this dangerous repeat offender off the streets of Nashville.
