Letters to the Chief of Police

August 17, 2009

A couple of months ago I was pulled over by Officer Phillip Shuler and felt the need to contact your station about him. I was unaware the speed was 30 mph, and I was doing about 40 or so when he stopped me. Although I was in violation of the speed limit, Officer Shuler conducted himself in an extremely friendly manor and was as polite as any an officer that I have met before.

After sending me on my way, he said hello to a child playing in the yard beside the street. When the little boy mentioned that, it was his birthday Officer Shuler wished him a very happy birthday. I used to be a volunteer fire fighter, and know that when dealing with the public you have to be respectful, polite, and understanding, and Officer Shuler was all of that and more. In my opinion, the way that he conducted himself that day is the way that all servants of the public should act. He is truly a benefit to your department, and to this city.

Thank you for your time.
